Some sort of strange blindness.....

.....seems to overcome people who are obsessed about their weight. My friend (the one who threw the tantrum in the UPS office) has gained a little weight and is now incapable of talking about anything else. From the moment we meet until the moment I leave, I hear practically nothing except the details of whatever diet she happens to be on at the time. Since I resemble Tracy Turnblad's mother more than anyone else I know, I have to wonder about her powers of observation.
