I wrote to this guy last night. (That's not his picture.) His post is almost precisely the way I feel about patriotism. But he sounds so discouraged that I wanted to let him know that he wasn't alone, and that he should keep on writing.

And we have to remember that progress has been made. Donald Rumsfeld, Karl Rove, Lewis Libby have all lost their 'official' positions in the administration. Weasel McClellan has written his tell-all book about the lies and collusion. The administration has admitted that the three (ostensible) reasons we invaded Iraq; WMDs, links to Al Qaeda, uranium purchased from Niger, were all false. (Though the White House calls them 'bad intelligence' rather than carefully orchestrated lies.) Tom Delay is gone. Rick Santorum is gone. Bill Frist (that pompous, lying, idiotic, self-important JERK) is gone! Armed Forces Generals, left, right and center, are denouncing the invasion. And we've started a blog! That's progress!

In five days I'll do a two-month anniversary (C)update. I'm thinking of consolidating it all into the big tank. More surface area means better gas exchange. I'll do that this week.
