Bush orders expands role for national intel chief
President Bush's new executive order revising rules for intelligence agencies expands the national intelligence director's powers and may further erode the CIA's traditional autonomy.
The order, revised in secret and signed Wednesday, is drawing criticism from civil liberties groups and even lawmakers from the president's own party.
House Republicans on the intelligence committee walked out of a Thursday morning briefing by the national intelligence director, Mike McConnell, on the order to protest what they consider the White House's pattern of disrespect for congressional oversight......You know, I'm going to vote for Barack Obama because it's the right thing for me to do. But I hope that McCain wins. We deserve McCain. And McCain deserves the stinking cesspool that the Bush Administration has made of our land and our laws. I may not believe in Gods, but I sure as hell believe in penance. And it looks like it's past time to pay the piper.
Speaking of paying the piker....oops, I mean 'piper', please follow this link to our friend, Rich Simon, over at SCORP10N BOWL to see how Exxon has posted the largest corporate profit in history, once again.
